Old Fashioned Cattle Drive…

Long Horn Steers right down the middle of 17th Street… straight through the heart of downtown Denver. I can only imagine how thrilling this must have been many years ago… no advance warning… dirt roads… the thunder of hundreds of hoofs… shop keepers watching from the windows.

I have lived in Colorado my entire life… and this is the first time I’ve headed downtown to watch the kick off parade for the National Western Stock Show.

Tami and I took light rail which dropped us off right at Union Station (the staging area for the parade). The only hitch… we got there way too early… the animals weren’t even there yet (we are ALWAYS 3 hours early or a million hours late!)… what to do with 3 hours?… Panera to the rescue (blazing fireplace… hot coffee and a cinnamon roll)!

We staked out a spot a couple of blocks from Union Station (we guarded THAT spot… we threw elbows to keep THAT spot)… that way we could get pictures of the parade with Union Station in the background… 😂🤣🤪… not a one… not a single one!

Nope… That’s NOT… Union Station!

Nope… That’s NOT… Union Station!

Nope… That’s NOT… Union Station!

Just random buildings… lots of people… and lots and lots of poop!
